La Misa 2025: Music, Culture, and Sustainability

LA MISA SUSTAINABLE FESTIVALS

Within the framework of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, integrating sustainability into the creative industry and implementing climate change adaptation strategies have become essential goals.

Music festivals are spaces for gathering, leisure, and work, having social, environmental, and economic impacts on the regions where they are held. These impacts can be both positive and negative, making it important to identify them, monitor them, and establish plans to improve their management.

For this reason, La Misa FESTIVAL AIE, as the producer and organizer of La Misa, recognizes the importance of promoting sustainability in the cultural sector and the music industry. It is committed to promoting and respecting sustainable practices among its suppliers and attendees.

SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES AT LA MISA FESTIVALS A.I.E.

In the 2025 La Misa festivals, La Misa Festival AIE will work on sustainable practices by fostering six key areas, as outlined by the Canary Islands Tourism brand, with specific actions:

1) Sustainable Mobility
We promote public and shared private transport at our festivals, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and thereby lowering emissions and environmental impact.

2) Energy
We aim to maximize the use of natural light to minimize electricity consumption, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. For this reason, our festivals are conducted almost entirely using natural light.

3) Water
We encourage water-saving systems, helping conserve valuable water resources. Water fountains will be installed for attendees to refill eco-friendly cups, reducing the reliance on single-use plastic bottles and waste generation.

4) Purchasing
We prioritize local suppliers to reduce transport distances, cut emissions, and support the local economy. This promotes business diversity, preserves cultural identity, and fosters a sense of community.

5) Reusable Infrastructure
We choose sustainable infrastructures to minimize environmental impact. Stages and furniture are reused, redesigned, and adapted to new festivals, emphasizing eco-design and circularity. Decorations are chosen with recycling and reuse in mind to encourage responsible practices.

6) Waste Management
We promote waste collection for recycling with well-labeled bins to create new raw materials and products. Our Social & Green Corner provides environmental education and awareness. We run educational campaigns before and during the festival to highlight the importance of waste segregation through posters, announcements, social media, and other means.
